How to Prepare a Transparent PNG for Reuse

PNG can store alpha transparency, making it useful for logos, product cutouts, overlays and reusable design assets.

Step-by-step workflow

    Start from a clean source

    Use the highest-quality source available before removing the background.

    Create the cutout

    Use a background remover or mask workflow to separate the subject.

    Inspect alpha edges

    Check for halos, missing hair, jagged contours and leftover background pixels.

    Export as PNG

    Choose PNG when you need transparency to remain in the file.

Transparency is not the same as a white background

A transparent pixel has no visible background color. A white-background image contains actual white pixels. Choose based on where the image will be used.
