How to use QR Code Generator: 10 clear steps

Follow these steps, then verify any platform-specific size, format or policy requirement before final submission.

  1. 1

Choose the QR type first: website link, plain text, Wi-Fi, email or phone number.

  2. 2

Enter the exact information you want the QR code to contain and check spelling before generating it.

  3. 3

For website links, use the final destination URL so scanners are sent to the correct page.

  4. 4

For Wi-Fi QR codes, enter the exact network name, security type and password, including uppercase and lowercase characters.

  5. 5

Use a higher error-correction level when the QR may be printed small or exposed to minor damage, but keep the content reasonably short.

  6. 6

Choose a dark QR color on a light background because strong contrast improves scanning reliability.

  7. 7

Use the 512 × 512 or 1024 × 1024 export size when the QR code will be printed or used in larger artwork.

  8. 8

Avoid placing important graphics over the three large finder squares in the QR code.

  9. 9

Scan the preview and the downloaded PNG with at least one phone camera before publishing or printing it.

  10. 10

If the QR contains passwords, phone numbers or private text, share the image only with people who should have access to that information.
