Transparent vs White Background: When Background Removal Actually Helps
Removing a background is useful only when the destination benefits from a reusable cutout. A transparent PNG, a white-background product image and an unedited identity photo solve different problems, so the right output depends on where the image is going.
Choose the output based on the destination
Transparent PNG is useful when the subject will be placed on changing backgrounds, such as thumbnails, posters, product mockups or design compositions. A white background is better when a marketplace, form or brand template explicitly requires white pixels. Keeping the original background can be necessary when editing is restricted.

Background removal is not the same as background replacement
Removing a background produces transparent pixels around the subject. Replacing the background is a second design decision: you may place the cutout over white, a solid color, a photograph or another layout. Keeping those two steps separate helps you preserve a reusable master cutout.
